I love steaks! It is just so heart-warming and luxurious to eat steak. :) Back when I was living in the Philippines, I can already have ok steak for Php 300 courtesy of House of Mini's. Now, it's a little bit harder to have it since it's more expensive here.

I have been craving for this for the past several weeks so I researched on the net and found out that the best steaks do not have complicated marinades. The best steaks are those that can highlight the taste of the meat, rather than all the accoutrements that go along with the beef.

So great news to everyone else who likes steak. I have a super simple recipe that you can prepare yourself and enjoy at home.

What you're going to need:

To prepare: ziploc bag

To cook: grill pan and baking dish

Heat Source: stove and oven

Ingredients:

Beef (whatever cut is your favorite, mine is ribeye)
Salt and Pepper
Olive Oil

Procedure:

Preparation
1. Make sure that the beef is thawed and has reached close to room temperature.
2. In a ziploc bag, put the olive oil (2 tbsp of olive oil = 1 steak), salt, pepper and the beef. Seal the bag.
3. Rub the oil, salt and pepper on the beef (while inside the bag) to make sure that the steak is properly covered with the rub.
4. Set aside for at least 1 hour. If longer than 1hr, put the steak in the fridge. Do not freeze.

Cooking
1. Pre-heat the oven to the maximum heat (my oven's max is 250C). Get your baking dish and cover with tin foil. This will make your life easier once cleaning time comes.
2. Make sure that the steak is at room temperature. Put a little olive oil in a grill pan over medium fire.
3. Once the oil is hot, sear the steak on all sides. This will take at least 5mins.
4. After all sides of the steak has been seared, put the steak in the oven. Cook until desired doneness has been achieved (we like ours medium well).
5. Once done, take it out of the oven and let rest for at least 15mins. If you carve it fresh out of the oven, all the juices will run out (as I have experienced several times already).

That's it! Very simple, right? Now of course steak goes well with gravy and I know of a very good recipe for a gravy. It's not mine but you can find the exact recipe here

Now let me know how you find it. I welcome feedback.
